Let me first start off by saying I am not a schooled professional, just the owner of a Nikon Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera.
I started capturing photos in college. After becoming exhausted from drawing images with pencil and paper. My first camera was gifted to me from a college roommate. It wasn't the best (having a cracked lens and weak battery), but I wanted to learn. Regardless of its condition, it helped me secure the position as historian of Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). The second camera, I purchased, was also a point and shoot of better quality and came with editing software. However, despite it having 30x zoom and more pixels I was shortly fustrated with it. It rarely focused on what I wanted. So, I began saving up for my next camera. Following my summer internship, I bought freedom, with the Nikon D90 and haven't looked back ever since.
I've created this website for two reason. The first as an art gallery for my work. On many occasions while taking photos, people would walk up and ask, "Do you do this professionally? Could I have your contact information? Or, do you have a website that I can go to?". I would always respond with the opening lines, I am not a professional, I just own a nice camera and the only portfolio I have is on facebook. The second reason I created this website was because I was inspired by a friend. After seeing her work so hard on her own starter company barreinyourbedroom. She, unaware, encouraged me to finally share my work.
I hope you like.
